Every rubber track has three numbers that define it: width, pitch, and link count. You’ll see them written as W × P × L for example, 300 × 52.5 × 80.
Most people buying a rubber track never think much about what it’s actually made of. They look at the price, check the dimensions, and get on with it.
The tread pattern on a rubber track is one of those things that looks like it shouldn’t matter much and then you put the wrong one on and spend the day watching the machine bog in clay that the right pattern would have cleared.
Cut a rubber track open across its width, and you’ll find a layer of reinforcing material embedded in the rubber body.
A de-tracked rubber track stops work immediately and depending on the terrain, can damage the track body, bend the front idler, and create a safety hazard.
Track tension gets adjusted once at installation and then ignored for months on many machines. That’s a mistake and an expensive one.
